
Eight Slugs Honored with CSC Academic All-District Accolades

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – Eight Banana Slugs landed a spot on this year's Academic All-District Team, as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday afternoon. On the men's side, UC Santa Cruz saw Joseph Espy, Ben Lim, Leo Wagner, and Caden Breznikar while Alyssa Jackson, Emilie Ngo, Danielle Tyner, and Sarah Reuter earned Academic All-District honors on the women's side. The four All-District honors add up to 20 selections in the history of the award for UC Santa Cruz men's basketball while the four honors add up to 14th selections in history for women's basketball.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Notably, this is the third Academic All-District honor for both Caden Breznikar and Joseph Espy as the duo earned honors in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. Caden Breznikar earned the C2C Â Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors while Joseph Espy earned First Team All-Conference honors for the second straight season with Leo Wagner picking up a Second Team nod.

Alyssa Jackson picked up her second straight CSC Academic All-District honor while Emilie Ngo, Danielle Tyner, and Sarah Reuter all claimed their first career honors. Notably, Emilie Ngo headlined the C2C All-Conference awards this season, earning the 2026 Player of the Year title after finishing the 2024-25 season as the Rookie of the Year. Ngo has been a standout guard for the Banana Slugs since day one with the program and continues to lead the team in numerous ways. Ngo led the team in scoring with 318 points on the year, averaging 14.5 points per game. Ngo also led the conference in assists with 134, setting the single season assists record for the Slugs. Additionally, Ngo's 6.2 assists per game rank fourth in the country and her 134 assists rank eighth nationally.
