
UCSC Falls to No. 27 Sewanee

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team fell to No. 27 Sewanee 7-0 on Friday afternoon in their home opener. Chloe Wu and Lucy Yung fought hard in No. 1 doubles match and forced Sewanee into a tiebreaker before falling. Lucy Yung also played well, forcing a three set match in the No. 2 spot. The Banana Slugs will host Occidental on March 8th at 11:30am.

Doubles:
- Brooklyn Walker and Meleja Horelick fell 6-2 on court three before Alicia DeWitt and Chloe Khachadourian dropped a tight 6-4 battle at No. 2.
- On court one, the Banana Slugs battled in their No. 1 doubles with Chloe Wu and Lucy Yung forcing a tiebreaker, eventually falling 8-6.
Singles:
- Chloe Wu fell 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles with Brooklyn Walker finishing shortly after, dropping her match at No. 6 6-0, 6-1.
- Alicia DeWitt lost in the No. 5 spot, dropping the match 6-1, 6-2.
- Chloe Khachadourian had a hard fought first set on court No. 3, narrowly losing set one 7-5 before dropping set two 6-0.
- In the No. 4 spot, Meleja Horelick dropped back to back 6-4 sets.
- Lucy Yung had the best over performance for the Slugs forcing a three set match after dropped set one 6-3. Yung surged back into the match with a 6-3 win of her own in set two but struggled in set three, falling 6-0.
