REDLANDS, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team faced a tough challenge against the No. 12 Sewanee Tigers, ultimately falling 6-1 in Saturday's match. Despite a dominant singles victory from Sara Beckman, the Banana Slugs were unable to overcome Sewanee's strong lineup.

The match began with doubles, where the Tigers took control early. UC Santa Cruz struggled to find momentum, dropping all three matches. Beckman and Natalie Sprenger fell 6-0 at the No. 1 spot, while Chloe Wu and Meghana Damojipurapu managed only one game in a 6-1 loss at No. 2. Sweden Van Houten and Melody Ghaffari put up the most resistance but were defeated 6-3 at No. 3.

In singles, Beckman was a bright spot for the Banana Slugs, putting on a commanding performance at the top spot. She cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sewanee's Ansley Carpenter to secure UC Santa Cruz's lone point of the match.

Elsewhere, Sewanee continued its strong play. Sprenger, Wu, Ghaffari, and Van Houten each fell in straight sets, while Damojipurapu battled through a three-set thriller at No. 3. After winning the first set in a tiebreak, she dropped the second and came up just short in a super tiebreaker, falling 7-6(5), 1-6, 10-12.
