
Slugs Earn Seven Podium Finishes on Day Two of PCSC Championships

MONTEREY PARK, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's swim and dive teams continued their strong showing at the 2025 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference, coming away with seven podium finishes on Day Two of the Championships. After two days of action, the men's team sits in first with 806.5 points with the women's team in fourth with 471 points.

Men's Meet Highlights
- 1m Dive: Charles Shortt led the Slugs with a second place finish, recording 292.95 points in the six dive competition. Ben Thiem and Trevor Masters took fourth and fifth with 247.15 points and 212.40 points.
- 200 Free Relay: The Banana Slugs started the evening session on top as Kyle Reitan, Andrew Koika, and Charlie Hussain, and Adam Sinclair combined for a time of 1:20.66 to take first place.
- 100 Fly: Andrew Koika earned his second gold of the day, touching the wall in 48.95s in the 100 fly with Morgan Madril taking second in 49.31s.
- 400 IM: Asher Kates took third in the event with a time of 4:01.23 with Luke Scanlon taking fifth in 4:03.88.
- 200 Free: Massimo Reyna took fifth in the 200 free after touching the wall in 1:39.69.
- 400 Medley Relay: The Slugs closed out the evening with a third place finish in the 400 medley relay as Asher Kates, Karsten Hsiao, Morgan Madril, and Massimo Reyna combined for a time of 3:23.53.
Women's Meet Highlights
- 200 Free Relay: The Banana Slugs started the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 free relay as Tereza Shea, Katy Hawk, Maddy Gruender, and Kaitlyn Armstrong combined for a time of 1:36.09.
- 100 Fly: Kirsten Boyle took seventh overall in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 56.93s.
- 400 IM: Lily Wolfinger finished eighth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:34.86.
- 200 Free: Maddy Gruender swam a 1:52.32, dropping 0.51 seconds off her seed time, to take third place overall.
- 400 Medley Relay: Medha Raghuraman, Lily Wolfinger, Kirsten Boyle, and Kaitlyn Armstrong combined for a time of 3:55.08 to round out the evening with a sixth place finish.
