Men’s Tennis Defeats Poets 6-3

WHITTIER (3-26) – UC Santa Cruz started a five match road trip to Southern California as they took Whittier College in Whittier. The Banana Slugs swept all three doubles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over the homestanding Poets.

In the doubles matches, the Banana Slugs duo of Andrew Tjoa and Praneet Varade won their match at #1 8-2. Ryan Lam and Benjamin Wang won their match at #2 8-6 and Radin Sadeghi and Mayur Nookala won their match at #3 8-3.

In the singles matches, Lam won his match at #4 6-2, 6-4. You won his match 6-1, 6-2 at #5 and at #6, Nookala won his match 6-1, 6-2.

Nookala said about today's match, "I'm very happy with the win today! Ryan Lam's wisdom got me through my match. I'm grateful to have great senior leadership."

You said, "It was a great win today. We had great energy throughout the whole match and it pushed me to play better"

The Banana Slugs will continue their road trip tomorrow as they take on Chapman University in Orange. First serve is set for 1 pm.
