WAVERLY, IA– The UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs' first day of the Wartburg NCAA Indoor Qualifier started strong with two new school records.Â
Riley Martel-Phillips,
Hanna Hekkanen,
Caitlin Donovan, and
Kenzie Seymour contributed to the Banana Slugs getting 2nd place in the women's Distance Medley Relay at 12:11.91. The previous record for the women's Distance Medley Relay was set in 2022 at the University of Washington by Martel-Phillips,
Arabella Edler, Hana Yamamoto, and Elana Muzzy getting a time of 12:15.12.Â
For the men,
Eric Anderson,
Eric Jackson,
Levi Laden, and
Holden Spencer combined for a time of 9:58.75 in the men's Distance Medley Relay. They placed 7th of 16 schools and moved to 20th in the country. The last record was also set in 2022 at the University of Washington by Spencer,
Ethan Bizzack,
Carson Nagel, and Jackson.Â
