Last Chance Magic! Hofstetter Headlines with Top 10 Decathlon Performance at Redlands Final Qualifier

REDLANDS, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field team turned in strong performances at the Redlands Final Qualifier, highlighted by a dominant win in the decathlon and several top sprint and field marks. Evan Hofstetter headlined the performances with a lifetime best in the decathlon to punch his ticket to the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 

Men's Results
  • Decathlon: Evan Hofstetter won the event with a personal best score of 6550 points. His all-around effort featured standout marks including 10.82 in the 100 meters, 6.81m in the long jump, 10.43m in the shot put, 1.82m in the high jump, 49.25 in the 400 meters, 16.64 in the 110 hurdles, 28.83m in the discus, 3.85m in the pole vault, 38.37m in the javelin, and 4:25.10 in the 1500 meters.
  • 100 Meters: James Contini led the way for the Banana Slugs with a program record time of 10.66 seconds to place 7th, followed by Jonathan Stenger in 23rd at 10.99 and Sotirios Kougiouris in 29th with a time of 11.38.
  • 200 Meters: Levi Laden placed 7th overall with a time of 21.74 seconds, while James Contini clocked 22.17 to finish 17th.
  • 400 Meters: Levi Laden delivered a strong performance, finishing 2nd overall in 48.13 seconds.
  • 800 Meters: Aaron Hillberg placed 3rd with a time of 1:53.20 in a competitive field.
  • 110 Meter Hurdles: Sotirios Kougiouris took 4th place with a time of 15.42 seconds.
  • High Jump: Tetsuo Eng was unable to clear a height and finished with no height (NH) in the event.
  • Long Jump: Tetsuo Eng finished 3rd with a top mark of 6.67m (21' 10.75"), and James Contini followed in 4th with a jump of 6.54m (21' 5.5").
Women's Results
  • 100 Meters: Amaya Cummins placed 2nd overall with a time of 12.09 seconds in a strong showing.
  • 200 Meters: Amaya Cummins and Caitlin Donovan went 4–5 in the event, running 25.20 and 25.40 seconds respectively.
  • 400 Meters: Caitlin Donovan placed 2nd with a time of 57.03 seconds.
  • 800 Meters: Isha Kasanagottu ran 2:43.89 to finish 4th in the heptathlon 800 meters.
  • Heptathlon: Isha Kasanagottu finished 4th overall with 3623 points, highlighted by a 15.46 in the 100 hurdles, a 1.43m high jump, a 6.70m shot put, a 26.93 in the 200 meters, a 4.98m long jump, a 14.09m javelin throw, and her 800-meter run.
