ALEXANDRIA, LA— With one of the best team scores in program history, UC Santa Cruz finished third at the 2023 American Southwest Conference preview at the Oakwing Golf Course.
Held at the same course that will host the Conference Championship in April, the Banana Slugs finished with a two-day team score of 600 after hitting 303 in Sunday's second round. Fifteenth-ranked Texas-Dallas won the team title with a score of 579 after a 13-stroke improvement in the second round.
The Banana Slugs were led by
Alyssa Yee and
Jiya Dalal, who finished tied for sixth place with a five-over 149.
Elana McGrew was tenth, one stroke back with a 150 after she took two shots off her first round score.
Tani Ng was 14
th with 153 after the best round of her college career.
Isabella Esquivel was 23
rd with a 159 and
Mikaela Paracuelles was 32
nd with 164.
The Banana Slugs return to the West Coast next week to compete in the Redlands Invitational in Beaumont.
