UC Santa Cruz Sits in Fifth After Day One at Pacific Grove

PACIFIC GROVE, Ca. – The No. 37 UC Santa Cruz women's golf team performed well on Day One of the UC Santa Cruz Invite at the Pacific Grove Golf Links, bringing in top talent from across the country. The Banana Slugs are currently 24 over as a team, sitting in fifth place behind No. 4 WashU (+5), No. 6 CMS (+6), No. 18 Redlands (+9), and No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer (+17). UC Santa Cruz will be back in action tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. to battle for a top spot in their home invite.
 
Day One Results
Samanta Shaw led the way for UCSC on day one, shooting four over (75) with two birdies and an eagle, putting her in 13th overall. Olivia Lew followed closely behind, ending the day in 19th with a 76, picking up four birdies on the day. Jiya Dalal and Adeline Truong rounded out the top four for UCSC with Dalal shooting 78 and Truong shooting 79, putting the pair in 22nd and 27th, respectively.
 
Alyssa Castellanos finished 16 over to finish in 55th on day one while Elena McGrew finished 20 over, sitting in 66th. Brisa Trollinger and Lauren Silva both shot 21 over with Isabella Esquivel shooting +22 to round out the UCSC performances.
