UC Santa Cruz men's and women's cross country will host the Coast-To-Coast Conference Championships this Saturday the 28th at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale.
The men's race starts at 10:00am, with the women's race scheduled one hour later. The Banana Slugs will host over 60 runners each race, with participants coming from Christopher Newport (Newport News, VA), Mary Washington (Fredericksburg, VA), Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY), Salisbury (Maryland) and Warren WIlson (Swannanoa, NC). The race is the final big event before the squad runs at the NCAA West Regional in two weeks in Riverside.
Both the Banana Slug men and women are the two-time defending Conference champions, starting with UC Santa Cruz sweeping the inaugural event in 2021 that was also held at Baylands. Seniors Eric Jackson and Riley Martel-Phillips both won the Conference's individual titles last October in Salisbury, Maryland. On the men's side, the Banana Slugs also have Luke Holland, Casey Orton and Eric Anderson back to contend this year after the trio earned First Team All-Conference in 2022. The women return First Team runners Faith Dyogi, Iris Abegglen and Helena Janku.
