Banana Slug Women Finish Sixth, Men Eighth at Bronco Invitational

SUNNYVALE (10-14) – UC Santa Cruz returned to California to participate at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale. The youthful Banana Slugs finished sixth in the women's team competition and eighth in the men's team competition.

In the men's 8K race, Michael Masotti led the Banana Slugs as he finished 50th with a PR of 25:51.8. Dylan Cronin finished in 26:15.1 for  an 81st place finish. Viktor Kieturakis finished 95th with a time of 26:23.2.
Kelvin Chan finished with a time of 26:40.2, Eduardo Palma finished with a time of 26:44.3, and Alex Wille finished the course in 26:48.2. Diego Vizcarra had a time of 26:50.1, Nathan Leroy finished with a time of 27:21.1, Liam Manley rounded out the Banana Slugs' contingent finishing with a time 27:40.2.Â

In the women's 6K, Jordan Baden had the top finish of the day, placing 33rd with a time of 23:17.4. Madelyn Basinet finished with a time of 23:32.8 with a 42nd place finish. Frieda Cedillo finished 52nd with a time of 23:48.5.
Sofia Placias finished with a time of 23:57.4, Hope Martin finished with a time of 23:59.8, and Ryanne Reynolds ran the course in 24:01.8. Marianna Chuang rounded out the Banana Slugs' scorers with a time of 24:09.1, Emma Cadena finished with a time of 24:56.9 and Arabella Edler rounded out the Banana Slugs' contingent with a time of 25:46.9.

In the men's team competition, Cal Poly Distance Club won by five points over UC Santa Barbara. In the women's team competition, the Peninsula Distance Club won by 27 points over Fresno Pacific University. Former All-American Ayla Granados of PDC won the women's individual competition.

The Banana Slugs will return to Sunnyvale on October 28th as they host the Coast-To-Coast Conference Championships.
