Banana Slugs Draw 1-1 With Scots

Banana Slugs led early in the second half but draw on a late goal by Macalester
Will Barba scored his first goal of the season but a late equalizer meant the Banana Slugs earned a 1-1 draw with Macalester College Saturday afternoon at the Lower East Field. The tie moves the Banana Slugs to 0-0-2 on the young season.
Barba's strike came just ten seconds into the second half after a free-kick from Tanner Boyea. Barba's goal was one of his two shots in the match. With just a little under 12 minutes left in the match however, the Scots would tie the match. Milosz Fernandez-Kepka scored after a pass from Parker Etzbach with 11:40 left.
The Banana Slugs had one final chance to take the lead with 7:28 left but Itay Rabinovich's shot was just high.
UC Santa Cruz finished with a 13-10 shot advantage. Adrian Jacobs led the Banana Slugs off the bench with three shots. Arman Salimi had his lone save in the final seconds to keep the result.
The Banana Slugs will be back in action on Monday at the Lower East Field, as they will take on Saint John's University (MN) at noon.
