Women's golf places fourth in first tournament of Spring

Gillian Mendoza garners eighth place at CSU East Bay Invitational
PLEASANTON, CA - Facing a field that was mostly Division II opponents, UC Santa Cruz finished fourth at the Women's Bay Area Invitational hosted by California State University, East Bay.
UC Santa Cruz shot a two-day 680 (96 over) at the Callippe Preserve course. Gillian Mendoza was the top Banana Slug, finishing with a 14-over 160 over the two rounds.
Freshman Charlotte Ruhl finished 17th with a 23-over 169. Alyssa Yee was 22nd with a 175. Â In her first college tournament, Kristina Oh was 23rd one stroke behind Yee. Mikaela Paracuelles was 29th, shooting a 193.
The host Pioneers won the team title with 27-over 611, helped by three golfers in the top ten.
The Banana Slugs return to Division III competition in three weeks when they travel to the George Fox Westbrook Tournament in Peoria, Arizona.
