Banana Slugs get everyone in the pool in last meet before Conference Championships
UC Santa Cruz sent off their seniors in winning fashion at their final home meet of the season.
The meet against Simpson was the final competitive time in the UCSC pool for seniors Gavin Hollis, Elisabeth Lundgren, Jack Schertler, Victor Sowa, Stephen Taylor, and Giovanni Wenzler.
"Coming to UCSC to swim was the best decision of my life!" said Lundgren. "This team is so special to me, I couldn't have hand picked a better group of people to be my swim family. Every single person on this team gives me a reason to keep pushing even when I'm so exhausted I can't even move!"
With a much larger roster available, the meet allowed the Banana Slugs to race almost everyone on the roster. The event concluded with a unique event: a Mixed 200 Free Relay where the quartet of Drake Southern, Sam Smith, Tereza Shea and Isobel Blue won by 0.57 seconds over the Redhawks in 1:34.02.
The Banana Slugs next hit the pool in two weeks when they travel to St. George Utah for the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference championships.
