Neighbors play Pasatiempo in match-play format
Playing a rare dual match on their home course of Pasatiempo, UC Santa Cruz hosted Division II neighbors Cal State Monterey Bay in a match-play event on Tuesday afternoon.
The format featured 8 Banana Slugs paired off against 8 Otters, who then went head-to-head on each hole. In addition, three Banana Slugs competed on their own.
Junior Riley Birch was the only Banana Slug to win her match, taking 10 of the 18 holes against her Otter opponent. Freshman Charlotte Ruhl tied her match by winning 9 holes, as did sophomore Alyssa Yee.
The result gave every available UCSC golfer some time on the course before the Banana Slugs head to Houston on Sunday for the Division III Nationals Preview at Bay Oaks Golf Course.
