Team opens weekend with great serving and hitting
EAGLE ROCK - Behind a balanced offense, UC Santa Cruz won for the ninth time in ten games in a sweep at Occidental.
The Banana Slugs hit .350 overall in the 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 win, progressively hitting better in each set.
Samantha Taylor led UCSC with 12 kills on 17 swings for a season-high .647 hitting. Claire Okerlund added 6 kills, while Isabella Hoglund and Audrey Gilbert each had 5.
Sinead Beaupain and Lauren Bliss expertly shared setting duties again, passing for 13 and 12 assists respectively and both served 3 aces each. The Banana Slugs had 11 service aces for the second-straight match and the fourth time this season.
UC Santa Cruz continues their weekend with a pair at Redlands on Saturday, beginning with Pomona-Pitzer at 11am.
