#8 Bulldogs Defeat Banana Slugs

REDLANDS (3-28) – The Banana Slugs completed their trip to Southern California as they took on ITA/NCAA Division III #8 University of Redlands in Redlands. The Bulldogs defeated the Banana Slugs 8-1.

Both teams lost their last match. The Banana Slugs lost 5-4 to ITA/NCAA Division III #9 Pomona Pitzer yesterday in Pomona while the Bulldogs lost 5-4 to ITA/NCAA Division III #13 Williams College in Redlands on Saturday.

The Bulldogs won five singles matches while the Banana Slugs won one. In the #1 singles match between Chadwick Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Chase Lipscomb of University of Redlands, Lipscomb defeated Stone 6-2, 7-6. In the #2 singles match between Chad Le Duff of the Banana Slugs and Parker Wilson of the Bulldogs, Wilson defeated Le Duff 7-5, 6-4. In the #4 singles match between Sean Hollister of UC Santa Cruz and Jake Ly of University of Redlands, Ly defeated Hollister 7-6, 6-2. In the #5 singles match between Alexander Flora of the Banana Slugs and Tom Suchodolski of the Bulldogs, Suchodolski defeated Flora 7-6, 6-4. In the #6 singles match between Ryan Dugan of UC Santa Cruz and Brad Cummins of University of Redlands, Cummins defeated Dugan 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. The tightest singles match of the day was the #3 singles match between Derek Levchenko of the Banana Slugs and Joey Dulle of the Bulldogs. Levchenko defeated Dulle 6-7, 6-3, 10-6.

The Bulldogs won all three doubles matches. Two matches - the #1 doubles match between Dugan and Stone of UC Santa Cruz and Dulle and Ly of University of Redlands and the #3 doubles match between Flora and Levchenko of the Banana Slugs and Sucholdelski and Wilson of the Bulldogs – each had the Bulldogs' representatives winning the match 8-2. The tightest doubles match was the #2 doubles match between Hollister and Le Duff of UC Santa Cruz and Cummins and Lipscomb of University of Redlands. Cummins and Lipscomb defeated Hollister and Le Duff 8-3.

The next match for the Banana Slugs will be April 8^th as they take on NCAA Division II member Holy Names University in Oakland. The match will take place at Meyers Tennis Center on the campus of Mills College. The first serve is set for 11 am.
