OAKLAND The UC Santa Cruz women's basketball team lost 57-56 in the final seconds of its game against Mills College Tuesday night.
With 18 seconds to go, the Banana Slugs, (1-3), missed a free throw that would have tied the game. The Cyclones picked up the rebound and ran out the clock. Vicki Priuska and Chris Sinander had outstanding all-around games for UCSC, Slug Coach Brock Tully said. Priuska scored 18 points, while Sinander had 17 points.
"Chris had her best game of the season," Tully said. UCSC led 54-48 with three minutes to go, but with Roz Manson and Anne Osbaldeston the team's tallest players fouled out. UCSC couldn't control the boards, leaving the door open for Mills center Sarah Katcliff, who scored 34 points on the night.
