#30 Banana Slugs Gallop Past Mules

CLAREMONT (3-23) – The Banana Slugs played their final match in their Southern California trip as they took on Colby College. The Banana Slugs won four singles matches and won the match 6-3.
Both teams lost their last match. The Banana Slugs lost 7-2 to ITA NCAA Division III #4 University of Chicago yesterday in Claremont while the Mules lost to NAIA member Westmont College yesterday in Santa Barbara.
The Banana Slugs won four singles matches while the Mules won two. In the #3 singles match between Chad LeDuff of UC Santa Cruz and Mark HoSang of Colby, Le Duff defeated HoSang 6-3, 6-4. In the #4 singles match between Ryan Dugan of the Banana Slugs and Shaw Speer of the Mules, Dugan defeated Speer 6-3, 6-3. In the #5 singles match between Derek Levchenko of UC Santa Cruz and Jeremy Mendoza of Colby, Levchenko defeated Mendoza 6-2, 6-2. In the #6 singles match between Alexander Flora of the Banana Slugs and Matt Martin of the Mules, Flora defeated Martin 6-2, 6-3. In the #1 singles match between Adrian Sirovica of UC Santa Cruz and Carl Reid of Colby, Reid defeated Sirovica 6-3, 6-3. The tightest singles match of the day was the #2 singles match between Chad Stone of the Banana Slugs and Vlad Murad of the Mules. Murad defeated Stone 7-6, 6-4.
The Banana Slugs won two doubles matches while the Mules won one. In the #3 doubles match between Sean Hollister and LeDuff of UC Santa Cruz and Martin and Mendoza of Colby, Hollister and Le Duff defeated Martin and Mendoza 8-3. In the #1 doubles match between Flora and Sirovica of UC Santa Cruz and Murad and Reid of Colby, Flora and Sirovica defeated Murad and Reid 8-4. The tightest doubles match was the #2 doubles match between Dugan and Stone of UC Santa Cruz and HoSang and Speer of Colby. Dugan and Stone defeated HoSang and Speer 8-6.
