Seawolves Win 9-0 over Banana Slugs

ROHNERT PARK, CA -- UC Santa Cruz took on ITA NCAA Division II #25 Sonoma State University in the second match in as many days for the Banana Slugs. The Seawolves beat the Banana Slugs 9-0.
In their last match, the Banana Slugs won 9-0 over Mills College yesterday in Santa Cruz while the Seawolves lost 6-3 to ITA NCAA Division II #14 Academy of Art University in Rohnert Park yesterday.
The Seawolves swept all six singles matches. Two of the singles matches –the #3 singles (Jordyn Kearney of Sonoma State vs. Soph Lundeberg of UC Santa Cruz) and the #4 singles (Karlee Budge of Sonoma State vs. Islay Fossett of UC Santa Cruz) – finished with the Sonoma State representative winning 6-1, 6-0. In the #2 singles match, Kaitlyn Haithcock of Sonoma State defeated UC Santa Cruz's Sylvia Brummitt 6-1, 6-3. In the #5 singles match, Jacquelyn Ward of Sonoma State defeated Zoe Middleton-Brook of UC Sana Cruz 6-0, 6-0. In the #6 singles match, Julie Rea of the Seawolves defeated Stephanie Graziano of the Banana Slugs 6-4, 6-1. The #1 singles match was the tightest of the six singles match as Leire Martinez of Sonoma State defeated Courtney Lymburner of UC Santa Cruz 7-5, 6-0.
As with the singles matches, the Seawolves won all three doubles matches. Two of the doubles matches – the #2 doubles (Kearney and Haithcock of Sonoma State versus Brummitt and Fossett of UC Santa Cruz) and the #3 doubles (Budge and Fazekas of Sonoma State versus Lundeberg and Middleton-Brook of UC Santa Cruz) – had the Seawolves winning the match 8-3. In the #1 doubles match, the Seawolves' team of Martinez and Ward defeated the Banana Slugs' team of Katy Collins and Lymburner 8-4.
