Biography

ACADEMICS:

Fossett is a math and Econ major, and in 2014 she won the Slug Award for the highest GPA among student atheltes.

She graduated from Novato High school with a 3.9 GPA  

ATHLETICS:

Islay represented Novato High school in varsity tennis for 4 years.  

PERSONAL:

Islay is the third daughter of Joy and John Fossett. She has two older sisters, Tegan and Lela, and a younger brother, John. (the 8th ‘John’ in the family!)

Fossett was also tried cheerleading, but chose to stick to tennis and her academics. She was part of a Leadership Academy which focused on spreading awareness of human trafficking and modern day slavery. She says: “It was an eye opening opportunity that allowed me to get involved in an issue that interests me a lot.”

Why UC Santa Cruz:

“Luckily I was able to end up at one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. I am currently a second year math and Econ major and loving it. Last season was an incredible experience all around. Competition was intense and training was fun, but most importantly we made our own little lady slug family. And I'm stoked to watch it grow this year!!”
