Sonoma State rolled to 45 points in the first half on its way to a 72-39 women's basketball victory over UCSC Tuesday night.
"We played a much better game this time," said UCSC Coach Shevy Schindler, whose team dropped a 103-9 decision to Sonoma State earlier in the season. "We got off to a slow start, but I'm pleased with the way we played in the second half," he added. Although Santa Cruz scored only 16 points in the first half, it was only outscored 27-23 in the second half.
Susan Cahn led UCSC with 20 points, while teammate Val McGee pulled down 13 rebounds. UCSC now stands at 1-13 for the season and travels to San Francisco Feb. 14 and a game with the University of San Francisco junior varsity.
