One of the top players in UC Santa Cruz history, Sam Wittert returned to UC Santa Cruz as an assistant coach ahead of the 2023 season. Wittert has been an instrumental piece of the team's success over the last few seasons, assistant with camps, clinics, recruiting, player development, and travel.
A four-year starting setter, Wittert led the Banana Slugs to the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament, culminating in a National Runner-Up appearance. He graduated in 2021 third in school history for career assists.
Since graduation, he has been a coach with the Main Beach Volleyball Club.
