A Southern California native with deep family roots in the Monterey Bay Area, Jack Ventura-Cruess returns for his 4th year with UC Santa Cruz and his first as the Slugs' Interim Coach .
After he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Religion (inspired by a study overseas in India) and competed in Division III Tennis at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, Ventura-Cruess returned to Orange County where he coached High School tennis at El Dorado and Villa Park.
With an intense passion for the game, Coach Jack says "We are young, hungry, and ready to put the work in."
Coach Jack describes his style of coaching to "evoke the teacher within". He personally aligns as "a forever student of the game," constantly in the process of learning what is the cutting edge of the modern game of tennis.
When off the court, Coach Jack enjoys his time listening to and playing music, surfing the beautiful variety of breaks in Santa Cruz, hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with friends and family.
