Giovanni Wenzler became an Assistant Coach after graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 2022. During his collegiate swimming career, he helped the UC Santa Cruz Swim & Dive Team win their first Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference title in 2020, and place 2nd in 2019 and 2022. His specialties are in butterfly and distance, with a focus on underwaters, and his best event being the 200 Fly.
In his first year as an assistant coach, he helped lead the Banana Slug men to 2nd place and women to 5th place in PCSC.
As a coach, he looks forward to fostering growth in his student-athletes, and giving new and returning swimmers the same positive and rewarding experience he got as a Banana Slug.
