Late Goal by Espardinez Solidifies First Win of the 2026 Season

REDLANDS, Ca – The UC Santa Cruz women's soccer team found the back of the net late in the game to collect their first win of the 2026 season in their weekday matchup against University of Redlands. Susanaitzel Juarez-Mancera for the had an active performance on offense to lead the Banana Slugs, including her free kick and shot attempt to set her teammate Amaya Espardinez up for success. After Juarez-Mancera's shot got away from Redland's goalie, Espardinez was in perfect position to send in the only goal of the contest in the 83rd minute. UCSC now holds a 1-2 record and will next face University of La Verne on the road on Sept. 12th at 11:00am.
