UC Santa Cruz Success:

  • 2023-24:
    • At 2024 PCSC Championships, placed 2nd in both 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
    • Placed 3rd in the 50Y Free (30.80) at the PCSC Conference Championships
  • 2022-23: 
    • Placed 3rd in the 1M Diving at the 2023 PCSC Championships (192.15) 
    • Placed 2nd in the 3M Diving at the 2023 PCSC Championships (248.65) 
  • 2021-22:
    • PR in the 50Y Free (24.36) at the PCSC Championships
    • Champion in the 1M (229.40) and 3M (224.85) diving competitions at the PCSC Championships 
    • Earned 2022 PCSC Diver of the Meet after winning both conference titles. 

HIGH SCHOOL: 3-time Kern County High School all-area diver of the year at Stockdale High in Bakersfield. California Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society, President's Award for Excellence. Was on Roadrunner Aquatics Diving Team. 

PERSONAL: Son of Michael and Laura Akey. Calls them the most influential people in his life because "they always support me in everything I do and push me to be the best I can be." 

Picked UCSC for the unique campus, the research opportunities, the DIII athletic program, and the sense of community. Enjoys hiking and hanging with friends in his spare time.
