Biography

UC Santa Cruz Success: 

  • 2023-24:
    • Set two school records at the 2024 PCSC Championships: 200 Back (placed first), and 200 Free (placed third).
    • Also part of the school record 200 and 800 Free Relays that placed first
    • Part of the 400 Free Relay that was fourth and qualified for the NCAA Championships.
  • 2022-23: 
    • Placed 1st in the 500 free (5:16.22) at the 2022 Slug Invite
    • Placed 1st in the 100 back (59.91) at the PCSC Championships
  • 2021-22:
    • Qualified for 2022 NCAA Championships, the first Banana Slug to make nationals since 2017. Placed 19th in 200 Free and 25th in 500 Free.
    • In her first college race, placed 14th in 200 IM at the 2021 PCSC Championships. Was also part of the all-freshman quartet in the 200 Free Relay that was 8th in 1:42.24, just four seconds from the school record, and fifth in the 400 Freestyle relay in 3:37.37, just 3.2 seconds away from the school record. Closed the year setting the school record in the 100 IM at UC Davis in 1:01.37.


HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: California Scholarship Federation Member at Tamalpais High School. Swam for North Bay Aquatics.

PERSONAL: Parents are Sarah Quick & Peter Gruender. Chose UCSC for the welcoming Team atmosphere and academic Opportunities. Calls her sister Hannah her most influential person because she "inspires me to strive for improvement and pursue success."

Hobbies include kayaking and anime.
