
Shelby Yung Named Assistant Director of Community Engagement and Physical Education

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. - On Monday morning, the UC Santa Cruz Athletics and Recreation Department announced Shelby Yung as the Assistant Director of Community Engagement and Physical Education. Yung will play a key role in collaborating with campus partners and the greater Santa Cruz community while coordinating Physical Education classes throughout the academic year.Â

Prior to UC Santa Cruz, Yung served NCAA Division III Pomona-Pitzer Athletics for two and a half years as the Student Services Coordiantor and Senior Women Administrator. She focused on student-athlete programming dedicated to leadership and career development along with mental health, nutrition, and community service. Additionally, Yung oversaw and advices the Pomona-Pitzer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Student-Athlete Affinity Groups. During Yung's tenure in Southern California, she was also involved with the Pomona College Staff Council, the Restorative Justice Working Group, the 5C Teal Dot, and Pitzer's Division of Student-Affairs (DSA) Assessment Team.Â
