
UC Santa Cruz Defeats Simpson on Senior Day

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz women's swim and dive team earned a dominant victory on senior day, defeating Simpson with a 232-12 on Saturday afternoon. The Banana Slugs will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 23 when they travel to Master's University.

- 200 Medley Relay: The Banana Slugs started the day with a victory in the 200 medley relay as Medha Raghuraman, Maya Chen, Kirsten Boyle, and Maya Garcia-Hale combined for a time of 1:50.61.
- 1000 Free: Hannah Love won the 1000 free with a time of 11:10.3 with Heather O'Brien just behind in second at 11:12.90.
- 200 Free: Maya Garcia-Hale picked up her first individual win of the day, touching the wall in 1:57.12.
- 100 Back: Maya Chan took first overall in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.09.
- 100 Breast: Tessa Garvey Miller took first place with a time of 1:12.19 with Zoe Ma narrowly in second with a time of 1:12.64
- 200 Fly: Katy Hawk and Medha Raghuraman took first and second in the 200 fly with times of 2:12.26 and 2:23.74
- 50 Free: The Banana Slugs stacked the 500 free, turning in the 10 fastest times on the day with Phoebe Jaggers, Keaton Canaday, and Kaitlyn Armstrong going 1-2-3 in 24.67s, 24.98s, and 25.32s.
- 1m Dive: Briseis Valenzuela took first place overall with a score of 267.00 points.
- 100 Free: Kirsten Boyle took first place in the 100 free with a time of 54.15 seconds.
- 200 Back: Maddy Stein won the event after touching the wall in 2:22.32.
- 500 Free: Lily Wolfinger won the 500 free with a time of 5:32.42.
- 100 Fly: Siena Ancona took first place with the only sub 60 second time on the day, touching the wall in 58.96s.
- 3m Dive: Paige Vicente took first place overall with 255.90 points.
- 200 IM: Keaton Canaday earned a first place finish in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:13.02.
- 200 Free Relay: The UCSC 200 free relay team of Kirsten Boyle, Medha Raghuraman, Maya Chan, and Ella Welch combined for a time of 1:41.12 to take first place.
