SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – After a national search, the UC Santa Cruz Athletics and Recreation Department is excited to welcome
Nyssa Peele as the Head Women's Tennis Coach for the Banana Slugs.
Peele joins the Banana Slugs after serving as the head coach for the Caltech Beavers. In her first season with the Beavers, the program reached their highest in season ranking, coming in at No. 16 in the country. Prior to Caltech, Peele served as the head coach for both the Men's and Women's programs at Southwestern University in Texas. Before becoming a head coach, Peele worked as an assistant with the tennis programs at Cal Lutheran and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. During her time with the Athenas, Peele helped lead CMS to their first NCAA Championship title in 2018.
"While Nyssa brings a wealth of coaching experience across Division III, what perhaps is the most exciting part of all this is her passion and energy to help student-athletes be the best version of themselves both on and off the court. Her drive for greatness, and desire to excel in all aspects of being a professional will help us continue to grow as a department, and will no doubt propel our Women's Tennis team to new heights." – Director of Athletics and Recreation, Chris Spells
