Banana Slugs sweep Schreiner to finish Texas trip

KERRVILLE, TX (4-14) -- UC Santa Cruz finished their Texas road trip in style with a 9-0 dual match win over Schreiner University on Sunday morning.
The Banana Slugs improve to 11-5 with their second consecutive victory.
After they swept the doubles for the second consecutive day, the Banana Slugs won their six singles matchups in dominant fashion without dropping a set. The Banana Slugs used their depth with Julia Chiaradia Azzi winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 for her first win of the trip.
"Everyone's energy was incredible this weekend," Azzi said. "I enjoyed how everyone played their unique tennis. We are always finding ways to see the bright side on everything."
"The match was definitely different than the last two days," said Natalie Sprenger. "We were all really tired, but managed to power through and come out with some great tennis along with a sweep. It felt awesome to have some new people on court as well and I am excited for where this team is going."
UC Santa Cruz will finish the regular season Saturday at Harbor HS when they face William Jessup for Senior Day.
