Amanda Inserra had a team-high 19 points to lead UC Santa Cruz to a 91-58 win at Pacific Union College on Sunday evening.
The Banana Slugs improved to 6-10 and broke a three-game winless streak.
After the hosts had an early 8-7 lead, UC Santa Cruz took control of the game with an 11-0 run bookended by three-pointers by Inserra and
Lilli Hammons. That made the score 16-7 and UC Santa Cruz never trailed again. Leading 26-17 after one quarter,
Jenna Gorton's layup started a 17-6 run that put the Banana Slugs up 43-23 with 2:15 left in the half. The Banana Slugs cruised the rest of the way through the game and
Uma Joshi's layup made it 72-42 with 8:15 left in the game.
Celine Castaneda had 14 points in her first college start, along with team-highs of five assists and a pair of steals. Gorton had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Hammons scored 12 points.
Alexa Litchev had 13 points off the bench.
Inserra finished 7-11 from the field with five three-pointers and moved past Megan Gaynor into 13
th place on the school career scoring list. PUC's Janaya Berry led all players with 21 points.

Overall, the Banana Slugs made a season-high 67.8% (40-59) on field goals while outrebounding the Pioneers 37-15. UC Santa Cruz returns to action Wednesday evening when they play Menlo College at 6:30 pm in Atherton.
