Women's tennis opens Oregon road trip with solid 7-2 win

Team sweeps singles matches

Box Score PORTLAND - UC Santa Cruz women's tennis defeated Lewis and Clark 7-2 in the opener of a three-match roadtrip.
The Banana Slugs were down 2-1 after the doubles matches but came back strong to dominate the singles in the contest played at the Pioneers' Tennis Dome.

Natalie Sprenger, Sara Beckman, and Meghana Damojipurapu won in straight sets. Daniela Christian then clinched the match when her opponent withdrew after Christian won the first set. Tanner Rowland won at No. 4 before Jolie Seemayer finished the match with a hard-fought win in front of her teammates.

"Solid performance from the young Slugs to start our season," said interim Head Coach Jack Ventura-Cruess. "It's great to have Tanner back competing. Down 1-2, we stayed true to ourselves in Singles. Overall, it was a spirited win."
The Banana Slugs next take on Pacific University Sunday at noon.
