
Women's soccer celebrates Senior Day

The UC Santa Cruz Women's Soccer match against Dominican University was the last home game for the graduating seniors; Alexia Santos, Lauren McGuire, and Angela Bradbury. The furious match ended with the Banana Slugs losing 2-0.Â
The first half started with the Banana Slugs kicking off and gaining possession right away. All the seniors started the game and had high intensity. The Banana Slugs made beautiful shots on the goal from Kristi Truong and Camille Anneet. There was a beautiful corner by Amanda Scott that curved toward the goal, but was saved by the Dominican keeper. The Slugs had great possession and had control of the ball. Yet, in the last minute of the half, the Penguins were able to slip a shot in with 58 seconds left. The first half ended with Dominican in the lead 1-0.Â
Second half started with the Penguins having the kickoff. There was a beautiful shot made from Anneet with a turn then a shot with the left foot, however the ball went over the goal post. The Penguins were able to make another goal making the score 2-0 at 65:42. It was an intense half for both of the teams. With under six minutes, UC Santa Cruz had the last corner kick of the game by Emily De Los Santos and resulted in a beautiful shot from Chelyn Ackerman, but was saved by the keeper. The half ended with Dominican winning 2-0.Â
UC Santa Cruz's next match will be at the University of Redlands on October 21st at 4:00 PM.Â
