Jacobs late goal gives Banana Slugs tie at Jessup

ROCKLIN- UC Santa Cruz Men's Soccer finished today's match against William Jessup University with a 1-1 tie.

The first half started with many back-to-back shots made by the Slugs; Tyler Allred, Jackson Chandler, Adrian Jacobs, and Michael Braun all had attempts. Unfortunately, Jessup was finally able to gain possession and make it in the goal 17 minutes into the game. However, the Slugs had amazing defense and Kian Van der Meer in goal made outstanding saves. The first half ended with Jessup in the lead (1-0).

Second Half saw the Banana Slugs brought the intensity up. Caleb Lee and Will Barba made beautiful shots to the goal. There was great possession from the Banana Slugs, and they controlled the ball well keeping it on Jessup's side most of the half. In the last two minutes of the game, Jacobs made a beautiful shot from outside the box with a classic move to get away from the defender after a perfect pass from Allred. That tied the game 1-1 with 1:19 left. Right before the goal, the Slugs were having many shots on goal and 1v1 with Jessup's keeper. The intense game ended with UC Santa Cruz and Jessup tying 1-1.

The Banana Slugs (7-5-3) return home for their Senior Day game against Bethesda on Monday, October 23rd at 1:00 PM.
