Men's Soccer breaks winless streak with dramatic winner
NEWBERG, OREGON - Making his first-ever career start, Adrian Jacobs scored his second goal of the season with just 1:51 remaining in regulation as UC Santa Cruz defeated hosts George Fox 1-0 Sunday night in Newberg, Oregon.
The Banana Slugs improved to 1-2-2 with their first win of the season.
Jacobs' goal came on his second shot in the match after Will Barba's cross from the right flank. The visitors dominated the game, but left it late to find the game-winner.
For the game, the Banana Slugs outshot the Bruins 13-1 and had a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks. Tanner Boyea led the Banana Slugs with three shots. Arman Salimi stopped George Fox's only shot to earn the shutout win.
The aggressive match featured twenty-eight fouls combined. The Banana Slugs will be back in action tomorrow as they will take on Willamette University in Salem. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
