NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Ian McCloskey hit a career-high 23 points including all three of his three-point attempts to lead UC Santa Cruz to an 80-48 win over Pratt Institute Thursday at the Coast-To-Coast Conference Tournament.
The Banana Slugs (6-17) opened the game with a 25-11 start in the first nine minutes and never trailed in winning their third-straight game.
McCloskey went 9-12 from the field. Sohan Kshirsagar added 11 off the bench. Avri Finch added ten rebounds to go with six points and four blocks.
Overall, the Banana Slugs shot 28-69 from the field (40.6%), including a season-high 14 threes on 33 attempts (42.4%). Patrick O'Gorman had 20 points to lead the Cannoneers, who were playing in their first-ever NCAA postseason game.
UC Santa Cruz faces top seed and host Christopher Newport in Friday's semifinal matchup.
