Kaylee Murphy had a season-high 20 points to lead four Banana Slugs with double figures as UC Santa Cruz defeated Pomona-Pitzer 79-66 at the West Field House on Saturday.

The Banana Slugs improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2014-15.
The First Quarter half four lead changes as the teams matched each other early. The Sagehens got the early advantage as Charlize Andaya's layup with 11 seconds gave the visitors an 18-17 lead after ten minutes.
About two minutes into the second quarter, Murphy hit a shot that tied it at 21-all, and began a 13-3 run that gave UC Santa Cruz a 32-24 lead with 5:43 left before halftime. From then on the Banana Slugs never trailed behind again and led by as much as 18 points with 11 seconds left in the third after
Aubrey Wagner's shot that made it 63-45.
Murphy had a double-double with 14 rebounds along with a team-high four steals.
Amanda Inserra had 17 points, and
Ashley Kowack added 16.
Tess Oakley-Stilson scored 14 including a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Murphy, Oakley-Stilson and Wagner each dished out 5 assists.
Madison Quan led the Sagehens with 20 points. Overall the Banana Slugs were 31-65 from the field (47.7%) and 12-13 from the line (92.3%).
UC Santa Cruz finishes the weekend with a Sunday day trip to play Cal Maritime.
