Ashley Kowack scored a team-high 18 points and
Kaylee Murphy had a double-double as UC Santa Cruz pulled away late for a 96-76 win at Chapman.
The Banana Slugs improved to 10-2 on the year while Chapman fell to 7-10.
UC Santa Cruz opened the game on a 20-9 run, but the hosts answered with 14 unanswered points to take a 25-20 lead midway through the second quarter. Murphy broke the skein with a layup to start a 20-10 run that gave UCSC a 40-35 lead at halftime.
Savannah Powell's three pointer 1:43 into the third began a 15-2 run that pushed the Banana Slug lead to 56-41 with 4:28 remaining. The Panthers found their composure, creeping back to within 7 at 66-59 with under 20 seconds.
Amanda Inserra hit a 20-ft jumper at the buzzer to make it 68-59 heading into the last quarter.
The last quarter was all Santa Cruz, who shot 11-22 on field goals in that quarter to pull away and earn the win. The 96 was the most points they've scored this season and highest point total ever in the 41-game history against Chapman.
Murphy finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, along with team-highs of six assists and five steals.
Aubrey Wagner (15) and Inserra (14) also hit double figures.
Overall, the Banana Slugs shot 48.1 % (37-77) from the field, including a season-high 41.9% (13-31) from three. They also forced 20 Chapman turnovers, including 13 steals.
