Kaylee Murphy had a season-high 18 rebounds and became the school's all-time career rebound leader in UC Santa Cruz's wire-to-wire 63-54 win at Westcliff on Sunday afternoon.
Murphy added 12 points for her second double-double of the weekend. Her rebound with 6:33 remaining in the third gave her 721 in her career, passing former Banana Slug Sarah Mackey's career total of 720. The junior from Eureka now has 731 rebounds in a Banana Slug uniform.
Murphy also had a team-high four assists, which gave her 203 in her career to pass Lissa Schuman (1996-99) and Talia Joyce (2007-08) for fifth place on the school's all-time list.
Ashley Kowack led UC Santa Cruz with 25 points. She hit a pair of threes in the first two minutes as UCSC raced to a 15-3 lead early in the game and never trailed to improve to 11-2.
Aubrey Wagner added 11 points plus 4 of the team's 9 steals.
Trinity Vasquez had 15 points to lead the Warriors (8-8). Overall, the Banana Slugs shot 40.7% from the field (22-54) and 84.2% (16-19) from the foul line. They also had a 43-35 rebound advantage over the hosts. UC Santa Cruz returns to southern California for their next game when they play at La Verne on Saturday February 5th.
