ORANGE (1-26) - Needing to bounce back after a loss to Pomona-Pitzer 24 hours prior, UC Santa Cruz's women's basketball team got their groove back in a big way at Westcliff.

All 12 Banana Slugs that suited up scored as UCSC rolled to a comfortable 105-68 win. The Banana Slugs (9-10) set a school record with 19 three-pointers made, with eight players hitting at least one trey.

The 105 points was the second-most scored in the NCAA-era, with only the 116 scored against Simpson in 1991 a higher score in UCSC history.

The teams matched baskets in the first two minutes, but with the Banana Slugs trailing 4-3, they closed the quarter outscoring the Warriors 28-16 to lead 31-20 at the break and never let Westcliff get within single-digits again. UCSC led 51-34 at the half, and the rout continued in the third quarter with the lead growing as large as 30 when Amanda Inserra's jumper made it 70-40 with 3:19 left.

The Slugs tied the three-point record with on Savannah Powell's shot with 4:22 left in the game, and set the record with 1:55 left on Savannah Henson's shot that made it 99-68. 

Ashley Kowack led UCSC with a season-high 28 points on 11-17 field goal shooting. The sophomore from San Diego went 5-9 from three to pass 100 threes in her UCSC career. Senior CJ Catina added 12 points on 4-7 three-point shooting, tying her for third on the school career chart alongside Rachel Baudler with 146 threes made. Emily Mitchell went 4-5 from three for 12 points. Kaylee Murphy had 11 points and 11 rebounds plus a team-high 7 assists. It was Murphy's tenth double-double of the year and she now has 241 rebounds this season, surpassing the 240 she had last season for a new school record.

UCSC shot a season-high 40-68 (58.8%) overall from the field, the second-best mark in school history. Simone Hall had 18 points to lead Westcliff.

UC Santa Cruz closes their four-game January roadtrip with a visit to Pacific Union College 6:00 PM on Thursday the 30th.
