Stanislaus State defeats women's soccer 5-0

TURLOCK- UC Santa Cruz fell in its third consecutive match to a Division II opponent Saturday losing 5-0 at Stanislaus State.
The Banana Slugs (3-9) withstood the Warriors' offense for much of the first half before the hosts broke through.
Stanislaus (6-4-2) hit for three goals in the first half and added another two in the first 12 minutes of the second half for all the scoring. UCSC almost got on the board in the dying seconds of the first half but Izel Gutierrez's attempt was blocked and Alex Arce's rebound went wide just before the horn went off.
UCSC had a chance in the 82nd minute for a goal but Natalie Filippi's shot went wide.
Allie Mandel finished with four saves on the night in goal.
UC Santa Cruz next plays old rival Chapman next Friday in Orange County.
