
Women's soccer upends Mills 3-1

OAKLAND - Goals by Emma Wilson, Cayce Shaw and Julianne Hoeflich led UC Santa Cruz to a 3-1 win over Bay Area rivals Mills College.
UCSC (4-12-1) outshot the hosts 19-3, 12-1 in the second half alone.
The Slugs attacked from the get-go with Sandra Parhami forcing a save from Madison Cantrell 49 seconds in. They took the lead in the 21st minute when Wilson got a pass from Claire Lim and slotted it home to make it 1-0. UCSC doubled their advantage 6:53 before halftime when Wilson fed Shaw for the forward's second goal of the season.
Another fast start paid off for UCSC 52 seconds into the second half when Hoeflich scored off a pass from Parhami.
The Cyclones got some consolation in the 80th minute when Andrea Osornio scored on Mills' only shot of the second half. The goal was the first Mills scored this season.
UCSC returns home to face another Bay Area rival when they take on Menlo College Thursday afternoon.
