SANTA CRUZ The UC Santa Cruz women's basketball team lost to UC San Diego, 70-58, Saturday night at UCSC's West Fieldhouse, but still ended the season on a positive note, said Coach Brock Tully.
"We steadily improved, and in the last four games it really came together," said Tully, whose team finished with a 7-13 record. UC San Diego beat UCSC by 50 points earlier in the season. Chris Sinander led the Banana Slugs with 14 points and Laurie Stapleton had 13 with nine rebounds.
Friday night, UCSC drilled Simpson College, 84-27. Shana Margolis led the team in scoring with 18 points.
