WHITTIER, CA -- The Banana Slugs played their third match in Whittier as they took on Lewis and Clark College. The Pioneers won all six singles matches and defeated the Banana Slugs 8-1. 

In their last match, the Banana Slugs lost to Rensselaer Polytechnic 6-3 yesterday while the Pioneers won 9-0 over Willamette University in Salem last Sunday. 

The Pioneers won all six singles matches. The tightest matches were the #1 singles match between Summer Garrison of Lewis and Clark and Courtney Lymburner of UC Santa Cruz and the #2 singles match between Soph Lundeberg of UC Santa Cruz and Aurora Garrison of Lewis and Clark. Summer Garrison defeated Lymburner 6-4, 6-2 and Aurora Garrison defeated Lundeberg 6-2, 6-4. In the #3 singles match, Claudia Lew of the Pioneers defeated Sylvia Brummitt of the Banana Slugs 6-1, 6-2. In the #4 singles match, Glenna Gee-Taylor of Lewis and Clark defeated Islay Fossett of UC Santa Cruz 6-4, 6-0. In the #5 singles match, Christine Eliazo of the Pioneers defeated Zoe Brook of the Banana Slugs 6-1, 6-0. In the #6 singles match, Natalie Kelly of Lewis and Clark defeated Stephanie Graziano of UC Santa Cruz 6-1, 6-1.

Lewis and Clark won two doubles matches while UC Santa Cruz won one match. In the #1 doubles match, which was the tightest doubles match, the Banana Slugs' team of Katy Collins and Lymburner defeated the Pioneers' team of Summer Garrison and Lew 8-6. In the #2 doubles match, the Pioneers' team of Eliazo and Aurora Garrison defeated Brummitt and Fossett of UC Santa Cruz 8-5. In the #3 doubles match, Kelly and Gillian Lowe of the Pioneers defeated Lundeberg and Zoe Middleton-Brook of the Banana Slugs 8-4.
