WHITTIER, CA -- Leah Parrish pour in 21 points and the bench added 40 as the Slugs rolled to an 83-42 victory over the Whittier Poets.  The Slug defense frustrated the Poets all night holding them to 21% shooting. This game was never in doubt as the Slugs opened an early 18-4 lead and never looked back.

Over the first 10 minutes, the Slugs held Whittier to just four points. The Slugs offense was slow to hit its stride but finally got rolling when Geena Giovannetti hit the cutting Parrish on back to back baskets. Taylor Willis and Sarah Mackey followed with sweet driving layups and the Slugs led 12-4. Willis then moved to the outside and nailed back to back 3 pointers and the Slugs were in control.  The highlight of the evening was an alley oop pass from Erin Joo to Giovannetti. Mackey, Giovannetti and Parrish slashed through the porous Poet defense for easy layups and the Slugs led 38-17 at the half. 

The second half was a repeat of the first. Mackey and Parrish open the quarter with free throws. Parrish converted a three point play and the Slugs led 45-20. Coach Kent went deeper into the bench. Sarah Fitzgerald swished a long three pointer. Trina Torres matched the Fitzgerald three. Joo and Sara Crane converted two more layups and when Ashley Holmes hit a jumper and the rout was on. Jasmine Dimson joined the fun with a long three. Tyler, instant offense, Stewart added 7 quick points and the Slug lead ballooned to 40. The Slugs improved their season record to 14-6.  

The Slugs next face Occidental College on Sunday.
