UCSC -- The Women's Basketball team snapped out of its four-game losing streak on Saturday, crushing the visiting Pioneers of Pacific Union, 66-30.
Junior Guard Marcie Haduca scored a season-high 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Haduca also had 4 steals. Senior Guard Mischa Plunkett had 8 assists and 4 steals.
The Slugs had struggled as of late, clearly affected by the loss of leading scorer and three-point threat Junior Guard Rachel Baudler, who's still out with a concussion. UCSC's defense picked up, however, as they held Pacific Union to 32 percent shooting. None of the Pioneers' players scored in double-digits.
UCSC's record now stands at 8-12, with a 5-8 record in Conference play. With 5 games left, UCSC is just 1 win away from surpassing last year's total. They'll get their first chance this Friday at Bethany College. Game time is at 5:30 PM.
