The UCSC Women's Basketball split their weekend Cal Pac Conference games, falling short at Menlo College, 59-65 on Friday, before destroying Pacific Union College, 81-34 on Saturday.
At Atherton, UCSC's Rachel Baudler carried the Banana Slugs against the Oaks of Menlo, going 9 of 11 from the field and 5 of 6 from downtown as part of a 25 point outburst. Unfortunately the rest of the team was unable to respond; not counting Baudler's effort, UCSC shot just 29 percent from the field. The Oaks, showing a good balance of scoring, shot 46 percent from the field and had four players score in double-digits.
The team had a much stronger performance against the Pioneers of Pacific Union. Baudler again lead the team, scoring 19 points and shooting over 50 percent from the field. Baudler also had an impact on the defensive side of the ball, collecting 4 steals for the second straight game.
Junior Forward Shannamar Dewey also came up strong, hitting 8 of 11 shots in scoring 18 points. Sophomore Center Amanda Brecht had a team-high 8 rebounds to go along with her 3 steals.
The team's record now stands at 5-6 overall and 2-2 in Conference play.
