9/26/01 SANTA CRUZ-- The Women's Soccer team broke out of its slump against CSU Monterey Bay on Wednesday, complete annihilating the visiting Otters, 8-0. Junior Midfielder Bridget Baroncini would start the barrage just 3:40 into the match, and would add a second goal 17 minutes later. The teams went in to halftime with UCSC leading 3-0. Sophomore Forward Skye Vendt-Pearce would make her presence felt in the second half, scoring three consecutive goals for the Banana Slugs, and Santa Cruz would score two more before the final horn. Goalkeeper Janice Loper had four saves on the day. The team's record now stands at 3-4-1 on the season. They play their next match this Sunday as they visit CSU Stanislaus. |
